i went to the doctor today for my 34 week appointment. everything looks good and i am actually measuring a little ahead! only about a centimeter, which could mean about a week ahead, but we will know better after my next appointment in 2 weeks. i will have a sonogram at that time which will give us a better estimate of her weight and size.
the books say that she is tipping the scales at about 5 pounds and is 19.8 inches from head to toe. she is running out of room in my belly and i should start to be able to tell whether it is a hand or an elbow pushing against my belly...i'm not there yet but i'll let you know! she is definitely moving around a lot and with a lot bigger movements so that is fun.
i feel like i have not really experienced the dramatic hormonal part of pregnancy this whole time and then lo and behlod, in the past 3 weeks or so i have definitely been more emotional! it's kind of funny and weird all at the same time. i got really teary eyed the other night at our child birth class when we were taking a tour of the hospital and i saw a baby who had just been born - he was only 5 minutes old and the daddy was with him and the nurse doing whatever they do right after the baby is born. it made me realize how real this is and i just got so emotional thinking about zack standing there with kamdyn in a few weeks! it was a very precious moment but zack told me to quit crying b/c i think he was starting to get a little teary! :) it was funny. i'm not used to this emotional stuff!
the other reality check came for me on monday night when my best friend from college, mandy, called me and told me she was in the hospital dilated to a 5...her due date is 2 days before mine! i am thinking we still have 6 weeks to go and she is laying in the hospital! please pray for mandy and her baby girl - they are trying to keep her in there as long as possible so that her lungs can develop. but they have told her that she definitely won't leave the hospital without a baby...i'm sure bed rest is no fun. please pray for God's provision and timing for them.
on that note - i guess i should pack this bag people keep telling me about for the hospital just in case something crazy happens and she gets here sooner than expected. we might want to get a car seat too...hmmm....
